Day 28: Planning UX Research Studies
Understanding the UX Research Process
A research study is a step-by-step examination of a group of users and their needs, which adds realistic context to the design process.
We do this through usability studies which are research methods that assesses how easy it is for users to complete core tasks in a design
We plan our UX Research Studies by
Planning the study
Conducting the research
Analyzing and synthesizing the results
Sharing and promoting the insights
Elements of a UX Research Plan
Project background
Research goals
Research questions
Key performance indicators
Methodology
Participants
Script
Foundational research goal is to understand why or if we should build the product
How to write the project background
Identify the signals that indicate which research was necessary
Describe any previous research
Importance of project background
Gets the team on the same page at the beginning of the study
Shows we understand the purpose of the research
Key learning
I was introduced to seven elements of the UX research plan, but for the sake of brevity in this article, I only shared one. I look forward to rewatching this particular resource.
